REACH Regulation for Downstream Users
Does your company use any chemicals for processing, coating, cleaning? Is there, somewhere on your site, a container with some safety instructions?
If the answer to either question is YES, REACH will probably classify you as a "Downstream User" and you need to act now.
What should already be completed?
Have you made a list of the chemicals that are essential to your business and contacted the suppliers? You need to know if they will comply with REACH and not put your supplies at risk.
What must you do now?
If you haven't already taken steps to safeguard deliveries, do it now. Is “REACH compliance” a condition in your purchasing contracts?
Suppliers may ask questions about your business and how you use their products. They need this information to meet their own REACH obligations. Help them. If trade secrets are involved, don't worry - there are ways around this. Make sure that suppliers include your processes in their Registration.
Look out for new, more detailed Safety Data Sheets. Follow the safety instructions or demonstrate that your own precautions are at least as effective. If you have to provide safety information to your own customers - make sure that your Safety Data Sheets comply with the new REACH format
